Silver Cuttlefish with Blue Sapphire Pendant

A Cuttlefish crafted with a Cuttlefish. Made using the Cuttlefish Bone casting technique, this pendant is made in the shape of a real Cuttlefish with the iconic design of the bone material. This is made to demonstrate this underutilized medium and to pay homage to the animal that makes it possible.

Cuttlefish are unique Cephalopods that have a wide range of uses outside of being interesting creatures on their own. They are eaten, their bones are used in the pet bird industry for beak trimming, calcium, and entertainment, their ink is used to dye foods like pasta, and the ink is even used for painting and cosmetics.

Cuttlefish are nighttime ambush hunters and have incredible camouflage skills. We have related this unique feature into this piece by allowing the eye stones to be interchanged with a number of different colored gemstones to, like the Cuttlefish’s camouflage, adapt the jewelry to the individual and the occasion.
